Why Professional Bookkeeping Matters for Your Business

Most business owners don't go into business because they love bookkeeping. They go in because they're good at something else — building, selling, fixing, serving — and the books pile up while they're doing the work that actually pays the bills.

That's where we come in. Clean books, accurate reports, payroll that runs on time, and tax-ready records every quarter so nothing turns into a fire drill in April. We don't just check boxes — we run the numbers the way an owner needs them: clear enough to make decisions from, accurate enough to stake your business on.

If you're spending nights catching up on receipts or guessing at your real margins, you're paying for it somewhere — in lost sleep, missed deductions, or decisions you couldn't make because you didn't have the data. We fix that.

How Remote Bookkeeping Makes Managing Finances Easier

Remote bookkeeping — sometimes called virtual bookkeeping — means we handle your books without you ever having to come into an office. You snap pictures of receipts on your phone, your bank feeds connect to our software securely, and we deliver monthly reports straight to you. The work that used to require a filing cabinet and a drive across town now happens in minutes from wherever you are.

We work this way for clients across Wyoming and around the country, and the experience is the same whether you're down the street or three states away. What changes isn't the quality of the work — it's the friction around it. You send what we need, when you can. We turn it into reports you can actually use. And when something does need a real conversation, we pick up the phone.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What bookkeeping services do you offer throughout Wyoming?

Full-service bookkeeping including monthly categorization and reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, Wyoming sales tax filing, inventory management, advisory services, and clean-up/catch-up work for messy or behind books. Every service is offered à la carte — you only pay for what you use.

What is remote bookkeeping and how does it work?

Remote bookkeeping means we handle your books securely from a distance — using cloud-based software (QuickBooks Online or Xero) and read-only bank access. You snap photos of receipts on your phone, we file and categorize everything, and we deliver monthly reports straight to you. You can reach us by Zoom, Teams, email, text, or phone — whatever works for you.

Do you offer remote bookkeeping services for local small businesses?

Yes. Whether you're in Laramie, Cheyenne, or anywhere across the country, we serve businesses remotely with the same precision and care you'd get in-person. For local Laramie clients, we can also meet in person when it makes sense.

Can you handle bookkeeping for businesses outside Wyoming?

Absolutely. While we're based in Laramie, we serve businesses across the country through secure remote bookkeeping. Whether you're in Wyoming, California, or anywhere in between — same service, same standards, same direct line to Vicki.

What qualifications does your bookkeeper have?

Vicki McGowan holds a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Accounting plus eight active professional certifications: QuickBooks ProAdvisor Gold, QuickBooks Levels 1 and 2 Certified, QuickBooks Payroll Certified, Intuit Trained Bookkeeper, Xero L1 Certified Associate, Xero L2 Certified Professional, and Associate Digital Bookkeeper (ADB). She's also Bookkeeper Launch certified and BBB Accredited.

Do you provide small business accounting in addition to bookkeeping?

We provide bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and advisory services. For income tax preparation and filing, we coordinate directly with your CPA at year-end — your books arrive tax-ready so your CPA can start their work on organized records instead of untangling problems first. If you don't have a CPA, we can refer you to one we trust.

Can Cents of Wyoming assist with payroll services?

Yes. Payroll runs $100 per month plus $15 per employee per month, with a one-time setup fee ($250 for up to 49 employees, $500 for up to 100). Year-end W2 and 1099 filings are $5 per form. QuickBooks Payroll or Gusto software is included.

What makes a professional bookkeeper important for my business?

Clean books are the difference between confident decisions and guessing. A professional bookkeeper catches problems early, keeps you tax-compliant, and surfaces the numbers you need to actually run your business — not just survive tax season. Especially in Wyoming, where seasonal swings and tight margins mean every decision counts.

Ready to make your books work for you?
